The Rules To Being Attentive On A Date
Dating is something which has a set of unwritten rules. If you are not well-versed in this area, you may be struggling to learn as much as you can to avoid a bad experience. Being attentive is a key part to a successful date and the following information will help you understand just how to do that.
Look Into Your Date’s Eyes
No. I am not referring to long, dramatic gazes that make the room feel smaller and rather awkward. I mean the look when they know that you are actually listening to what it is they have to say. When people are not able to make direct contact, it makes others feel like they may have something to hide. Keep this in mind when your date is talking and you want to show interest.
Turn Off Your Telephone
There is nothing more insulting than texting and answering calls when you are on a date. Is there anything you have to say, to your pals, that cannot wait until your night has ended? Putting it on vibrate then glancing when it buzzes is just as obnoxious. Do yourself and your date a favour and place the phone in silent mode and out of sight.
If you never ask any questions when a person is talking, how will they know that you actually grasped anything they said? Even if you are following my other advice and giving them eye contact, that still does not mean that you are digesting all of the information they are offering. Asking follow up questions is the best way to go about it.
Don’t Overdo It
It is very nice when someone shows you attention, but it should not feel like it is forced either. If someone feels like you are trying too hard to be attentive, it will not be a pleasant situation. The idea is to show them that you are interested; not a stalker who does not deserve any additional dates.
There is nothing worse than being on a date with someone and feeling like their mind is everywhere, except on getting to know you and enjoying the time you are spending together. Dating has changed over the years, but some things never change. Being attentive is just as important as it has always been. Now you know the best way to do it.
